CHICAGO, IL Round two of Chicago’s municipal election continues with Democratic Committeeman Stephanie Coleman leading after winning all but 6 precincts in the 16th ward.

The very expansive south side ward includes Englewood, West Englewood, Gage Park and Chicago Lawn.

“We are very proud of our accomplishments and will continue to work hard to meet every voter in the 16th ward. I will continue to share my vision of a community that is vibrant and well served”, remarked Coleman. “I do not take this challenge lightly and will knock on as many doors and make as many phone calls as necessary to encourage everyone to vote on April 2nd.”

Coleman faced the incumbent in a run-off in 2015 and lost by a very narrow margin. She returned the next year to defeat the incumbent, by an increased margin, for the Democratic ward committeeman seat. Coleman has reinvigorated the 16th ward Democratic Organization by increasing voter’s registration and youth participation.

“Meeting Stephanie and watching her commitment the community we grew up in inspired me to participate”, said Daniel Smith a new captain in the 5th precinct. “I never did this kind of thing before but I know that we must work as a team to move our neighborhood forward and Team Coleman has proven to be serious about it.”

The campaign has also forged strong relationships between south side Black and Brown politicos. “They are saying that Blacks and Hispanics in Chicago can not work together for joint interests”, remark Jeorge Ortiz “That is not true. The 16th ward race has brought together many of us who believe that Coleman can and will represent the entire ward. All the people.”

The run-off election is Tuesday April 2nd.
