CHICAGO, IL The campaign office of 16th ward Committeeman and candidate for alderman Stephanie Coleman was buzzing with activity as Team Coleman Weekend Warriors spent Saturday and Sunday canvassing precincts, placing phone calls, and training for election day.

The above average weather was perfect for the team of volunteers excited to keep the winning momentum going. Coleman led the field with 44 percent of the vote in the February 26th election and won all but 6 precincts. Coleman is the favorite among residents after defeating the incumbent for 16th ward Committeeman in 2016.

The candidate, joined by over 75 volunteers carrying yellow bags full of literature, swept through the south side ward knocking on doors and blitzing shopping areas. The aggressive field work is to increase the voter turnout for the run-off election.

“She is a winner and an easy choice in this election”, remark Sharon Mason, “I came out with my two children to let them see how the electoral process works. They will be voting in a couple of years and to see a young candidate like Stephanie Coleman is very inspiring.”

“I appreciate all the love and support that continues to pour into this campaign”, remarked Coleman “The 16th ward is full of people who want to see change in our city council. The volunteers come from all over the ward because they know I will be a representative for all people.”

The diverse group comprised of residents from Englewood, West Englewood, Gage Park, New City, and Chicago Lawn volunteered in their respective areas. Greg Freeman of Chicago Lawn said “Stephanie Coleman is the right person to lead the 16th ward because she values all of us. She is not just focused east of Ashland but has made herself available to every neighborhood. I am here to get some literature for my block and to show support.”

The Chicago municipal run-off election is scheduled for April 2nd.
